You’ve probably seen Samantha around the studio with her gorgeous curly-haired daughter, Alice, and her other three precious kiddos. If you haven’t, you may have seen her smiling face in some of our photos. She’s so supportive and helpful and has been with Vessel since the very beginning! Let’s take a few minutes to get to know her a little better.

Tell us a little about yourself. Name, background, family, etc..

My name is Samantha Platou and I’m originally from New Braunfels, Texas. I met my husband when I was 16 through my brother — they were best friends in college. We have been married for 11.5 years and have 4 kids 6 years apart: Grant 9, Nora 7, Knox 5, and Alice 3.

What do you like to do in your free time?

The lake is my happy place! We love spending time out on either Lake Houston, Dunlap, McQueeney, or Lake Athens with friends and family. I also love dreaming up projects to do around the house, running, being outdoors, and going to Vessel, of course!

What’s your favorite ice cream flavor? 🙂

When I eat ice cream, Nadamoo vanilla or Oatly Coffee are my go-tos.

Do you have an interesting fact you’d like to share?

I was on Texas A&M Water Ski Team.

What brought you to Vessel Pilates and how did it stand out to you?

Through being friends with the owener, Jessica Sowyrda… I watched her build her brand and studio from scratch and have enjoyed watching it grow over the years.

How long have you been going to Vessel?

Since opening day!

How often do you attend classes?

I try to get in a couple times a week when my schedule allows it. I also like popping in separately for an occasional infrared sauna session.

If you were to describe our studio to someone who had never heard of it, what would you say?

I would tell them that Vessel Pilates is a lovely one-of-a-kind boutique studio. They offer a variety of fun yet challenging classes, the instructors are incredible, and the community is very uplifting. Whether you are there to take a class, use the sauna, shop apparel, get an IV Drip, or attend a social event, you will always leave with a smile on your face! It is truly the best place to go for all of your self care needs!
