Member Spotlight: Laurie Thompson

Oh, Laurie! She is so much fun to be around and always has something interesting to share! She knows so many people in the community and is a brilliant entrepreneur. If you’re a small business owner or live in King’s Point, you’ve likely run into her on a regular schedule. If not, we hope you’ve seen her, or will see her, around the studio and say hi! Continue reading to get to know her a little bit better!

Tell us a little about yourself. Name, background, family, etc..

My name is Laurie Thompson and I’m originally from Florida. I’ve lived in Kingwood with my husband, Kipp, since 2015. We have three kids, Parker, Hunter and Jordan. I’ve been an attorney since 2003 and I’m licensed in three states, but I only practice part time now. I am the owner and publisher of a local publication called Stroll Kings Point, and I work with local businesses to introduce them to our residents. I also have my real estate license, and I own and manage two rental properties here in Kingwood.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I don’t have much free time between work and my kids’ activities but when we have some downtime we enjoy spending time in our pool, visiting local restaurants and patronizing local businesses, getting together with friends and neighbors, and of course working out at Vessel. I also enjoy a good book!

What’s your favorite ice cream flavor? 🙂

My all-time favorite is mint chocolate chip!

Do you have an interesting fact you’d like to share?

Most people are surprised to learn that I used to be a television news reporter and assignment editor for an ABC affiliated news station in Florida!

What brought you to Vessel Pilates and how did it stand out to you?

Vessel Pilates is actually a client of mine in Stroll Kings Point, which is what first brought me into the studio. I have since found Vessel to be an amazing retreat for both my physical and mental health. My kids also love the kids club and actually beg to go to Vessel. Having this childcare option available has been a lifesaver for me!

How long have you been going to Vessel?

I’ve been a member of Vessel since the fall of 2020.

How often do you attend classes?

I try to attend classes at least three times a week. I definitely have weeks where I am there more often and I’ve had weeks where I wasn’t able to make it at all. My body can tell the difference though and I feel so much healthier and more well balanced when I’m able to visit Vessel regularly.

If you were to describe our studio to someone who had never heard of it, what would you say?

Vessel Pilates is a beautiful retreat for your mind, body and soul. The studio itself is gorgeous with wide open spaces and serene décor. There are a variety of class options that are appropriately challenging and creative monthly contests to keep you motivated. The people at Vessel are all so welcoming it feels like you’re part of a supportive community.
