We know it is hard to find time for yourself between all the things on your plate, much less stick to a workout routine. Tackling house chores, shuttling kids around, and tending to the countless tasks can sometimes feel like a workout in itself! But research shows that overall wellness relies on getting your daily movement in.
Here are a few of our teams’ favorite ways to stay motivated with your workouts and improving your overall wellness.
Do it first thing in the morning. For those that have a hard time breaking away from their to-do list during the day, checking this box off your list first thing in the morning will help start your day on a positive note.
Find a workout buddy. Research shows that by having an accountability partner, you are more apt with sticking with a workout routine. Not only is it more fun, but you are less likely to cancel on your friend than on yourself.
Use a habit tracker app. No workout buddy available? No problem! Download a workout tracking app as your accountability. When you measure your progress, you are more likely to stay motivated and keep going!
Stick with short classes. Not enough time to squeeze in a full hour? Stick with shorter, express style classes. Even 10-20 minutes of movement a day is better than none at all! We love our on demand classes for this purpose!
Find a teacher you connect with and book her/his classes. We know by having a favorite teacher who just “gets” you is crucial with helping you along your wellness journey and reaching your goals. You’ll stay connected, motivated, and focused on your self-care.
Practice only as much as you can. Don’t beat yourself up or quit if you miss a day. Give yourself grace and pick it back up the next day!
Plan in advance. This is a big one for us, but we know with busy schedules it is often times hard to know ahead of time when you can attend a class. Focus on booking out a week at a time to start out with, then move to two. When you plan ahead, you can make sure you keeping reaching your wellness goals.
Add to your calendar. Being a mom and business owner, I personally have to put EVERYTHING into my calendar. By blocking off time for my daily movement, I have realized I am more likely to break away and get it knocked out. Gotta love those calendar reminders!
Try a program-style series. If you are new to working out, this is a tip that is truly helpful to get yourself into the habit. Whether it is a 21 day series or a 6 week program, by having the guidance with what to do and when, you will create the habit of establishing a workout routine. At Vessel, we are working on tailoring programs to each individual’s needs that will set them up for success and help them stay motivated to see progress.
Remember your why. Why did you start working out? Why are you on this wellness journey? Whatever it may be, write it on a post-it note and stick it on your bathroom mirror. Whenever it gets hard or you have a set-back, go back to why you first started. Often times you will get inspired to pick back up and regain that motivation you had whenever you first started.
We hope this truly helps you find inspiration, stay committed, and continue progressing within your own wellness journey. If you have any questions or need a personal cheerleader, you can email us at hello@vesselpilates.com and our team will reach out to support you!
