Member Spotlight: Crystal

Meet Crystal! She is a member here at Vessel Pilates and has such an inspiring story to tell. Read a little more about Crystal below!

Q. Tell us a little about yourself.

I’m a mom of 4 busy kiddos and I’ve been a NICU nurse for the last 7 years. Those itty bitty NICU babies have my heart. I also just finished my second Bachelor degree this summer. My journey with fitness really got serious in college(the first time), we won’t talk about how long ago that was. I picked up a couple DVDs by Kristin McGee, a yoga and Pilates instructor. I was hooked, and still do those videos from time to time. Vessel helps me take my love of movement to the next level.

Q. How have you adjusted to your new normal?

I’m not sure I have adjusted to the new normal. I think I still hold out hope that things will get back to the old normal at some point. That said, I have thoroughly enjoyed all the extra time with my husband and kiddos.

Q. How do you fit movement into your routine?

The VP kid’s club is my lifesaver. My girls love coming to play while I get my workout in. Having the kid’s club means I can come any time and don’t have to worry about only being able to come when the kids are at school or having to find a babysitter. I book an appointment for kid’s club on the app when I book my class and bring them with me.

Q. How has Vessel helped you during this time?

Before this pandemic, I loved going to the studio, taking as many classes as I could. Once the pandemic started, it was the virtual classes that kept me going. Seeing familiar faces, and keeping my body moving really helped me keep a positive attitude during those first weeks.

Q. What is your favorite way to destress?

I’m sure it sounds silly, but a great sweat session helps me get the stress out. I’m sure people think oh Pilates, that sounds easy. They would be mistaken. The instructors are so good at encouraging you and helping you realize your potential. I love that feeling of earthquake shake, when you have pushed your muscles about as far as they can go. It gives me a sense of pride to see and feel my strength increase every week.

Q. Any words of advice for other moms?

My advice to other moms is this: take some time for yourself. It is so easy to get busy with kid’s activities and lose sight of yourself and your own goals. You can’t pour into someone else’s vessel if yours is empty. Love yourself and come join me at Vessel! All of the members and staff are so supportive and encouraging, it makes it easy to keep your motivation and focus.

Thank you, Crystal, for being such an inspiration and wealth of knowledge! You help our team keep striving to bring new ways to challenge our classes and clients. We truly appreciate your help in growing our community and sharing the Pilates love with others! Plus we just love seeing your sweet family!
