For quite some time, I have had this dream of opening a studio in our community to provide a supportive and welcoming space for other moms needing more time for self-care and movement. It’s surreal to think that time is finally here.
After Hurricane Harvey flooded our neighborhoods and local businesses, our community really pulled together to help others who were affected and, in some cases, traumatized by the affect it had on our lives. It’s been a year spent rebuilding, recovering, and growing…. becoming, what I’d like to think as “stronger.” I still to this day get goose bumps thinking about how people I didn’t even know came to help gut our house and get out all of the personal items that were no longer salvageable. That is the picture of “community.”
That picture of community is what I’d like to bring to Vessel Pilates. My dream is for the studio to be a safe-haven for those who need healing. Who need more movement, more flexibility, more strength, and less pain. Less injury… Less stiffness…. Less aches. I get asked “what is Pilates?” a lot and without going into a long definition and history of where it originated, I like to simply say “it helps people move better and more freely in their daily lives.” In my experience, Pilates heals. It’s my therapy. It has helped me physically heal my body after having three babies, build stronger and leaner muscles, correct postural alignment and bring more balance to my body. Mentally it has helped me release stress and tension, find joy in working towards a goal, and giving myself the “me time” I need for self-care. The thing I love most about Pilates is that it is for EVERYONE.
I’m excited to bring that concept to a studio in our community and pray that we can grow stronger together. Vessel Pilates will be located in Town Center in 2019! As like so much of our city, our location was hit with flooding and requires much needed TLC. Stay tuned for behind the scenes of the studio renovation and details on upcoming events, class offerings, and the grand opening!
In the meantime, individual sessions, duets, and mixed apparatus classes are offered out of the home studio! You can book by clicking on the HOME STUDIO link in the website or emailing hello@vesselpilates.com. Be sure to sign up for our newsletter to find out upcoming specials and events! A little secret…. There’s a back to school special announced in our newsletter you won’t want to miss!
